There are two ways of looking at the issue of correcting mistakes.
The best path is obviously different with every child, and you will have to use your intuition to understand how much correcting your child will accept.
You might want to avoid direct statements that indicate that your bilingual child has erred. For example, if the child says, "I seed a butterfly," you might say, "How exciting! Tell me about the butterfly that you saw."
Your bilingual child may understand your point and begin to use the word "saw."
