Pictures of our Uganda and Rwanda Trip 2007
Well here we are in Rwanda for the second of our gorilla treks. This was a 17 day camping safari.
People ask how close do you get. In Uganda one adolescent gorilla stepped out of the jungle and walked up to and around Tanya. This is our second trip to Africa. We visited Tanzania and Kenya in 2003 but I didn't use a digital camera and I'm to lazy to scan those picture to post here.
We come on our first gorilla in Rwanda
Closer look at two buddies in the Bwindi Impentrable Forest
Ishasha in Queen Elizabeth National Park the tree climbing lions
We paid a visit to a fruit bat cave....more bats then I have ever seen
If Tanya or I needed haircut we found this wonderful little place in Uganda
Another tree climbing lion in Ishasha, makes you wonder what you would do if one was chasing you and thought you would be safe in a tree
If we needed a bathroom break we had these wonderful rest stops along the way
Baboons along the road
A very young gorilla
Another young gorilla having lunch
Here we are with our group going up into the rain forest in Bwindi. There are only 6 people allowed to go up at one time. The rest of these people are guides, our porters that drag our asses up and back down the moutain and armed rangers to protect us from poachers and human guerillas....that was a little nerve racking
Here we going up the mountain
Our camp shower. They said there would be warm showers but never had one. Tanya was a good sport about taking a cold shower....she now knows why men take them
When in camp we did have a regular bathroom.....sorta
Here is a Marabou Stork in camp
Here's a lizard that was something to see
Here is a warthog that was sleeping by our camp
While on the Kazinga Channel, that connects Lake George and Lake Edward we saw these elephants coming down for a drink

China 2001
Here is a picture of one of just many palaces in the Forbidden City.
Here some pictures of the Great Wall. This really is something to see. You can't imagine what it must of taken to buld this huge wall that goes for thousand of miles.
This is a picture of the start of the Great Wall of China Marathon that we went to China to run. You can see a section of the wall in the background.
In this picture we are walking the sections of the Great Wall that we will be running on. There were over 3700 steps to climb during the race. Some sections of the wall like this one had no wall on one side. You had to hold on to a rope or railing to go up or down because it was so steep.
Another view of a different section of the wall. The steps varied in height and width which made it very difficult to run because of thse differences.
Another view of the Great Wall.
Here we are after finishing the Great Wall of China Half Marathon.
Here I am with the winner of the Half Marathon. The Broze medal winner in the 76 Olympic games and a past winner of the New York Marathon Rod Dixon.
Here we are the top three finishers in the Half marathon.
And of course what would any photo of the Great Wall be if you didn't have a picture of the bathroom. Here it is. No water, no toilet paper just a million or two flies and the worst stench you have ever smelled. Talk about a lack of privacy.
And last but not least. You know what they say "When Rome dress like the Romans" well we were in China so we dressed like the Chinese.
Alaska 2000
We are dropped off on the Mendenhall Glacier by helicopter for our little adventure of hiking up to the top of an ice fall

Here is an aerial view of Bora Bora as we arrive
Here is Bora Bora as we arrive by boat from the airport. Since the island is just one big rock the airport is located on a Moto (small island) on the outside of the island.
Another view of looking out from the island.
This was our main means of transportation on Bora Bora.
This was our guide for the 4X4 tour of the island.
Just a few words to the wise. Never call your guide on Bora Bora "Coconut Boy"
Tanya coming back from a run to the grocery.
Here we are at our hut on Moorea, the sister island of Papeete.
This was our bungalow on Moorea at Club Med. I highly recommend if you ever go to the south pacific go Club Med. Service and food are great. Besides the cost of a meal is unbelievable there. The only things they grow in Tahiti are coconuts, fish and really big people!!
The water here is so clear. And the fish oh soooooo friendly.
This picture doesn't do credit to how beautiful it is under the water.
Sunset in Tahiti.

Well I finally put some of our China pictures on here. Notice I said "SOME" I took over 13 rolls of film while we were there. Enjoy.
Here we are in Tianamen Square in front of the Forbidden Palace.
Here is Tanya with the entire Forbidden City behind her. The city is so large I couldn't get it all in the picture.
Tanya in Juneau making a new friend
Tahiti is our favorite place to visit. We have been there three times now. If we could we would move there. Tahiti is really a group of islands not just one. Papeeta is the central island and where all Airlines come into. Once you arrive in Papeete you take a small puddle jumper or the ferry to Moorea or a small jet to the outer islands. Papeeta is not all that great, it is very crowded and typical capital city. You really want to go to the outer islands to really see what paradise is like.
Here we are in Colorado with the Garden of the Gods in the background
Tanya took me on a 7 day cruise of Mexico. My first cruise.
Here she is after a hard day of shopping in Puerat Vallarta.
