Fall is one of my favorite seasons in Door County, when the fall colors are at their peak. We make the trip annually about the second week of October. This year I was trying out my new camera so I want to show off my pics of my trip.
We started out at 6 AM from home. The trip would take about 2-1/2 hours just to reach the start of the Door County Penninsula. The morning turned out beautiful.
Door County is a narrow penninsula of Wisconsin jutting into Lake Michigan, with Green Bay bordering on the north and Lake Michigan on the south. Two highways loop the penninsula, Highway 42 on the north and highway 57 on the south. Traveling up Hwy 42 takes you through some of the most quaint towns, such as Egg Harbor, Ephraim, Fish Creek, Ellison Bay, Sister Bay and Gills Rock. At the tip of the penninsula is Washington Island and on the south shore is Baileys Harbor. This year we traveled up hwy 42 and back the same route.

Next year I hope to get to Door County in the Spring for Cherry Blossom time and early Summer to pick cherries. The penninsula is abundant with cherry & apple orchards and grape vineyards along with several wineries which offer wine tasting.
