SHERILYN
If you go out with me this one time, I promise to never bug you again.  I need to get my mind off of Joel, you need to get your mind off of Matt.  We make a great pair.  Get moving.
(She pats her back and exits.)

ELLA
ARGH!  I wish I could just-!
(She makes a stabbing gesture at her own chest with the hairbrush.)

MATT
(discovered lying in bed in boxer shorts)
There is a shortage of perfect breasts in the world, it--

ELLA
No, Matt.  She's kind of right.  I should probably move on from the "Princess Bride" fantasies about you.

MATT
(slightly shocked)
Oh.  Okay.

(He disappears behind the bed.  ELLA sadly begins to brush her hair.  MATT reappears in a cape and plastic fangs.)

MATT
I have crossed oceans of time to be with you.

ELLA
(unable to understand him with the fangs)
What?

MATT
I have—
        (spits out the fangs)
Never mind.  I was just trying to be “exotically romantic” is all…

(He sits on the corner of the bed and puts his
        head in his hands)

ELLA
What’s the matter?

MATT
It’s just that…well, I thought this made you happy.

ELLA
What made me happy?

MATT
You know.  Me.  The romantic fantasies…

ELLA
(sitting next to him)
You did—when we were together, but…

MATT
So, should I come back as Carey Elwes?  Mel Gibson?  What?

ELLA
You’re sweet.

MATT
But it’s over, right?

ELLA
(kissing him on the cheek)
It’s not you.  It’s me.

MATT
Isn’t that what I said when we--?

ELLA
See, I’ve been living in this fantasy world for too long.

MATT
But—

ELLA
(putting a finger to his lips)
Shh.  Don’t speak.  Sherilyn’s right, I guess.  I mean, I’ve been holed up in this room fantasizing about you for so long.  The real Matt is out living his life.  Why should I let him win?
