Once upon a time a Great White Explorer saved an African tribe from an attack by a rival tribe. During the attack the Great White Explorer was killed, so the tribe, seeing their debt to him, decided to raise the son of the Great White Explorer as one of their own.
But when the son, who is named "Trojak," reaches his majority he is told that he has to leave the tribe and go out on his own; the tribe loves him, and the chief of the tribe views him as a son, but Trojak's white, and there's just no getting around that. So Trojak goes wandering and gets into the usual adventures, helping various tribes (including his own) against bad white men and the efforts of the Germans.
Trojak is the "Tiger Man," whose best friend is "Balu, the Tiger" (even though there are no tigers in Africa...but never mind) and "Sator, the falcon;" Trojak can speak to the animals, and has the usual skills of a Tarzan...imitator. Interestingly, the tribe that raised him finds his strength and ability to communicate with animals as exceptional as the reader does; it is not a normal thing to them.
