The Fayre, which was held at St. Paul's church, Covent Garden, was a joint fundraising event between The Royal Theatrical Fund and The Grand Order of Water Rats. John was on hand to sign autographs and pose for photos to raise money for the two societies. Other celebrities at the event included June Whitfield, Geoffrey Palmer, Gordon Kayne, Roy Hudd. Warren Mitchell, Samantha Bond, Gwen Taylor and Paul Chapman. John himself was last at the Fayre in 2004 The afternoon was hosted by RTF’s President, Sir Donald Sinden CBE and King Rat, Graham Cole.
The Schola 18 piece Big Band were on hand to provide entertainment and stalls included a Tombola, Roy Hudd Memorabilia, Lucky Dip, Pimms & Lemonade, Theatrical Memorabilia and The Midsomer Murders & Morse Society. Pearly King's & Queen's were also there to add an authentic touch to the afternnon.
