TAMPA BAY, FL -- Fredrik Modin recorded a natural hat trick as the Tampa Bay
Lightning cruised past the Philadelphia Flyers, 6-1, on Saturday. Modin evened
the score at 1-1 midway through the opening period and tallied consecutive
markers with 4:41 gone in the middle stanza. Ruslan Fedotenko had a goal and an
assist and Brad Richards chipped in with three assists for Tampa Bay, which
registered six goals in a game for the first time since November 8. Nikolai
Khabibulin, who snapped a personal five-game winless skid, turned aside 18 of
the 19 shots he faced to raise his record to 11-10-5. Robert Esche, who took
the loss, gave up three goals on 12 shots and was pulled after Modin completed
his hat trick. Donald Brashear netted his fifth goal of the season for
Philadelphia, which fell to 2-3-1-1 on its current eight-game road trip.
