TORONTO, ONT -- Robert Esche recorded his second shutout of the season and
Michal Handzus scored twice to lead the Philadelphia Flyers past the Toronto
Maple Leafs, 4-0, on Saturday. Esche, who picked up the win in consecutive
starts for the first time since December 20, stopped 25 shots between the
first and second periods and finished with 34 saves, rasing his record to
12-6-4. Handzus, who registered his fourth power-play tally of the season,
found the back of the net twice in the middle stanza for his first two-goal
performance of the campaign. Jeremy Roenick moved into a tie for the team lead
in goals with his 16th for Philadelphia, which improved to 3-0 against Toronto
this year. Ed Belfour made 20 saves in the loss for the Maple Leafs, who have
dropped four of their last five games by a combined score of 17-6.
