Flyers in a 4-1 triumph over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. The rookie
netminder stopped all 22 shots he faced between the first and second periods
and turned aside 13 final-stanza chances to pick up his third victory in as
many starts. Simon Gagne had a goal and an assist and Mark Recchi extended his
point-scoring streak to nine games with his team-leading 21st goal for
Philadelphia, which has won three straight and eight of its last 10. Scott
Niedermayer tallied the lone score for New Jersey, which has lost consecutive
games after dropping just two of its previous nine. Martin Brodeur recorded 23
saves in defeat, suffering back-to-back losses for the first time since
January 9.
