PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Patrick Sharp scored twice for the Philadelphia Flyers in a
6-2 rout over the New York Rangers on Saturday. Sharp established a 5-1 cushion
on an unassisted marker with 5:21 left in the second period and put a feed from
Tony Amonte past goaltender Mike Dunham just under five minutes later for his
first career two-goal game. Amonte added an assist, Michal Handzus and John
LeClair each had a goal and an assist and Kim Johnsson chipped in with three
assists for Philadelphia, which won five straight for the first time since
November 13. Sean Burke stopped 25 of 27 shots to pick up consecutive wins for
the first time in his last 28 starts. Dunham gave up six goals on 18 shots in
the loss. Alexei Kovalev and Chris Simon each had a goal for New York, which
has dropped 10 of its last 13 contests.
