PHOENIX, AZ -- Mark Recchi recorded three points for the Philadelphia Flyers in
a 5-4 triumph over the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday. Recchi established a 2-1
lead midway through the first period and helped Jeremy Roenick net his first of
the season with over seven minutes to go in the stanza before tallying his
second poer-play goal of the year late in the second. Through four games,
Recchi leads the club with three goals and five points. Roenick chipped in with
two assists and Jani Pitkanen, who had his first career multi-point game,
contributed a goal and an assist for Philadelphia, which improved to 2-0-2-0 on
the season. Jeff Hackett registered 19 saves to pick up the win. Sean Burke,
who entered the contest with a 3-0-0 record and a 1/73 goals-against average,
gave up five goals on 35 shots in the loss for Phoenix. Paul Mara had three
assists for the Coyotes, who have dropped consecutive games after taking their
first three contests.
