PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Tony Amonte and Jeremy Roenick each had a goal and an
assist for the Philadelphia Flyers in a 4-2 triumph over the Washington
Capitals on Thursday. Amonte opened the scoring midway through the first period
with help from Roenick and set up the Boston native for his fourth power-play
goal of the season with 6:49 remaining in regulation. Justin Williams tallied
his second power-play marker in his last four games and Keith Primeau added a
goal for Philadelphia, which improved to 4-0-2-0 on home ice. Robert Esche, who
registered his fourth victory in as many starts, turned aside 20 of the 22
shots he faced, giving him a 1.00 goals-against average and a .953 save
percentage since October 27. Olaf Kolzig made 32 saves in defeat, suffering his
seventh loss in his last nine starts. Joel Kwiatkowski and Brian Sutherby each
scored for Washington, which fell to 1-7-1-0 on the road.
