PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Jeremy Roenick and Mark Recchi each had a goal and an
assist to lead the Philadelphia Flyers past the Pittsburgh Penguins, 5-2, on
Wednesday. Roenick netted his seventh power-play goal early in the first period
with help from Recchi and assisted on a middle-stanza strike by Chris Therien.
Recchi capped the scoring with his team-leading 11th marker of the season with
under five minutes remaining in regulation. Eric Weinrich recorded his first
goal of the year and Michal Handzus chipped in with two assists for
Philadelphia, which remained unbeaten on home ice with a mark of 11-0-2. Jeff
Hackett extended his unbeaten streak to seven games with 30 saves for the
Flyers. Sebastien Caron turned aside 27 of the 31 shots he faced over the first
and second periods and ended with 34 saves in defeat. Matt Bradley scored 20
seconds into the contest and Ramzi Abid had a man-advantage tally for
Pittsburgh, which has lost three of its last four.
