COLUMBUS, OH -- Sami Kapanen scored with 68 seconds left in regulation to help
the Philadelphia Flyers tie the Columbus Blue Jackets, 1-1, on Wednesday.
Kapanen took a feed from Michal Handzus and beat goaltender Freddy Brathwaite
for his first tally since November 18. Jeff Hackett turned aside 19 of the 20
shots he faced to preserve the tie for Philadelphia, which extended its
unbeaten streak to five games. Brathwaite stopped eight overtime shots and
finished with a season-high 40 saves in the tie. Manny Malhotra netted his
third goal of the season for Columbus, which has just one victory in its last
seven games.
