Astrid Lindgren is the author of one of my favorite childhood stories, Pippi Longstocking.  This lovely rose has been chosen to honor her.  The clusters of soft pink, double roses are surrounded by disease resistant leaves.  Growth is vigorous and erect.  Lovely fragrance wafts from each perfect pink petal.  To further describe its unique beauty I quote from The Roseraie at Bayfields, "Very few garden visitors get by this one without a gasp or two."  Sam Kedem Nurseries describes Astrid Lindgren as a rose that would make a good hedge, and that it can reach a height of 8 feet.
Give this rose some protection in zone 5.  There may be some cane dieback.  I plan to bury the bud union as I have with so many of my other roses.
