Star Roses

Chrysler Imperial is a beautiful rose!  The fragrance, which is a rich damask rose scent, is compelling.  Unhappily, growth has not been vigorous in my garden.  I've read that Chrysler Imperial does best in areas with warm summers.  Maybe that's the problem-- it gets really hot here in ol' Mich for about two weeks in July, and then it's pretty much back to the 70's and 80's.  This red rose can't complain that I've given it a bad location.  It's got some prime real estate on a southeast garden corner.  No lack of sunshine there!  Maybe I'll get a better performance next year, its second season in the garden.  I hope so!
Growth should be erect, vigorous, and stiff.  Expect flowers with good petal substance and long stems for bouquets.  A classic Hybrid Tea.

Spring 2000- I've decided to remove Chrysler Imperial.  The single cane bearing buds is so thin that it's sad.  Kaleidoscope will take Chrysler's place after I remove the existing soil and replace it with new.
