Elisio is a World Class Rose introduction from 1999.  It is cane hardy in zone 5 Michigan which starts it off on the right foot in my garden for sure!  The bulk of the plant hugs the ground, but it also sends up tall shoots that could be trained along a fence or trellis.
Here's a puzzler-- the roses in 1999 were an intense fuschia color and had no scent.  Blossoms born in the spring of 2000 have mellowed considerably to a medium rose pink, and where did that lovely tea fragrance come from?  Not only do the roses look and smell different, but they have been blooming in great abundance!  This shrub that started out as a sad-looking bargain bin rose from Walmart is quickly becoming a showpiece in my garden.

Elisio wins the honors for "first bloom of the season" in 2000--  one beautiful little rose on May 30th!

A magnificent cluster of
blooms in late June 2000
