I know that spring can't be far away when I get my Wayside Gardens rose catalog.  In 1999 they wowed me with a cover photo of a gorgeous pink rose-- Frederic Mistral.  This voluptuous beauty is one of the newer offerings in the Romantica Series from the House of Meilland.
The petals look like porcelain, and the various shades of pink throughout the bud and blossom are lovely.  Disease resistance is very good with a special aversion to black spot.  Fragrance is touted to be "out of this world."  Sounds great to me!
In the spring of 2000, my mom and I found this wonderful rose at Frank's Nursery and decided to include it in the new extension of the garden near our pole barn.  It will blend beautifully with our new English-style roses "Victorian Spice," "Cotillion," and "English Sachet."
Frederic Mistral grows vigorously to five feet and can even be trained as a mini climber.
