Knock Out
June 2000
August 2000
After reading so much good information about Knock Out we just had to try it.  My mom and I have decided to plant it near the fence on the north side of the patio garden.  This will be a test of its shade tolerance.  The sun doesn't reach that spot till almost noon.  Its need for only 3 to 4 hours of sun is one of the reasons we bought Knock Out, so we'll see if it can still bloom reliably there.
Cherry red, semi-double blossoms cover this maintenance free shrub all season.  Foliage is very dark with a hint of burgandy.  Roses are born in clusters of 3 to 15 on a cane.  Worries about disease and hardiness can be tossed aside with a rose like Knock Out.

Update:  Knockout has performed with outstanding reliability and beauty.  There has been no disease on its foliage during a summer of very bad blackspot.  Partial shade has not dampened its enthusiasm for blooming.  Knockout has been covered with roses since June!  This is truly a winner on all counts.
