This sweet boy has a lame, or broken, front left leg. It was swollen (seen in photo). He was seen in "Constitution Square." His ribs are showing and it was uncertain when he had eaten last. He was very sweet natured and loved to be patted. He hobbled around hoping for a handout but was largely ignored.[All three photos]

Sleeping on a dirty street, an abandoned German Shepherd. Athens.

More park cats (off "Constitution Square", Athens) These makeshift shelters, above, to the right and below, were put up by people in an attempt to give these animals some protection from the elements, etc., along with food, etc. All have since been destroyed by the Park Authorities.

More shelters no longer in existance. Animals left to fend for themselves.

Close-up of one of the park cats. Conjunctivitis or eye infection has set in along with an injured front left leg. Extremely friendly and loving cat, however.

A day at the park. What few volunteers there are bring these cats food whenever they can. As a result, these cats are in pretty good shape. People drop off cats here all the time however, and it's an unending cycle. It it here, also, that the dog raids occur also. If cats are not killed instantly, are left severely wounded [many times with intestines exposed] to die a slow death.

Same park. This group is out because of volunteers bringing food.
