A viewloader, (or any other stereotypical "bean shaped" 200 round gravity fed plastic boxes out there), tends to sit rather high due to its elongated feed nipple. If you think about this it becomes apparent that the reason this is so is because the Viewloader needs that extra feed tube space to mount the motor on the Revolution. And its cheaper to use the same molds for each hopper, even though the vl200 doesn't have a motor. Annnd since the vl200 doesn't have a motor, those of us who use one don't need all that extra tube sticking up there making our hopper poike above bunkers and out of bushes. So, measure the inside of the elbow or feed tube on your gun, now make a mark from the beginning of the nipple - down with that measurement, this will show you how much extra tube you have.
Cut off the extra. You can do this any old way, but I recommend sawing at it with a utility knife, because I did my first one with a Dremel tool, and the carbide cutting wheel tends to melt the plastic instead of cutting it. If you do opt to Dremel, I highly highly HIGHLY recommend safety glasses and long sleeves. I spent forty agonizing minutes getting molten plastic out of my eye.
Cut the tube off at the mark, then run around the cut with some sandpaper to smooth out the burrs. Stick the hopper back on the marker and viola! You've reduced your profile a good bit, and given your marker a meaner, leaner appearance. |
