My love for music began when I was about 4 years old, when my mother taught me basic music reading skills and basic piano orientation. I started taking piano lessons around the age 6 or 7 and continued until I started college. I loved music and felt most at home when my hands were on the keys of the piano. When I entered middle school, I knew I wanted to play in either the band or orchestra. I chose viola initially, but switched to double bass by time 8th grade began. I picked up the bass guitar when I was 15 years old. Soon after I was taking private lessons on both the bass guitar and double bass in addition to my piano studies. While in high school, I participated in the county Honors Orchestra and the Georgia All-State Orchestra. I performed in every type of ensemble that I was allowed into at school and in the community. At UGA, I studied double bass under Dr. Milton Masciadri. My education mentor, Dr. Skip Taylor, guided me in music instruction. After college, I returned to Cobb County to teach bass, bass guitar, cello, and piano. I have helped out many orchestra programs within the county such as: Allatoona High School, Campbell High School, McEachern High School, Durham Middle School, and Garrett Middle School. I have also been a clinician with Campbell High School's fall retreat workshop and McEachern High School's Summer Camp. I currently perform with the Cobb Symphony Orchestra and have been a substitute bass for the Macon Symphony Orchestra. I am currently looking for any opportunity to perform on double bass or bass guitar. |
