Jeff Van Damage vs. Eiji Ezaki- Street Fight- MIA XS Talent Title
The formula here was "good friends, better enemies," with this being Jeff's chance to pay back Eiji for costing him the match and the title at an earlier MIA XS Talent Title match. They show a little bit of footage from RAW, with JVD and Eiji tagging up as the Dream Machines. Then, they show the December match, where JVD and X-Dream fought
in the Triple Cage match, with Eiji running in, costing the match. Jeff comes out to a rather rabid reception, an early indicator of what was to come in JVD's MIA tenure. Eiji jumps JVD from behind after the flex, and pounds the crap out of him in the corner. JVD fights back, and FUCKS HIM UP with a Corner Yakuza Kick!! Eiji's "limp fall" sell is classic. Things settle down as Jeff misses a diving lariat, and Eiji counters with a dropkick, segueing into a shoulder block sequence with neither man managing to take the lead. JVD starts it off, nailing the block, then the leap over, and flipping through Eiji's hip toss, only for Eiji to do the same to his, and they trade arm drags. Each time a guy falls, he kicks off the other from the lying position, and pops up. Basically, the opening sequence to their RAW World Title Match. Eventually, JVD goes for a clothesline, Eiji ducks, and tosses Jeff over the top. Jeff puts on the brakes and skins the cat on the ropes. Eiji FUCKING KILLS JVD with a Spear when he scoops up, though. The subsequent falling on his head was not pretty. Eiji sets up a table but takes too long and JVD beats him down with THE CHOPS. He sets Eiji up against the guard rail, and decides to the the SPEAR!! However, it takes both guys out in the process. Smooth game plan, JVD. Anyway, Jeff grabs Eiji, but Eiji comes to life with a few open palm slap, and then POPS Jeff in the jaw with a Rainbow Kick! Eiji follows up with more brutality, just unloading on JVD with the stomps. Eiji throws Jeff back in and grabs a chair, only to have JVD hit a SWEET somersault Plancha Dropkick to the Chair!! Jeff works him over with the KICKS and sets up a chair between the ropes but that obviously doesn't work, as Jeff is thrown into the chair to the floor. Jeff hits a gusher, as Eiji poses. More brawling on the outside leads to Eiji hitting a one man standing Con-Chair-To ON THE POLE!! Disgusting.. We head back in, as Eiji gets two off of it, and Jeff is POURING. They go back and forth with the suplex counters until JVD hits a Springboard Headscissors sending Eiji through the ropes and THROUGH THE TABLE! EIJI IS FUCKED! JVD joins him on the outside, and does a Backbreaker on the Guard Rail!! Eiji is insane to take that kind of abuse. He tosses Eiji back in for two, and looks for the RUDO-CANRANA, but Eiji reverses into the H-BOMBAH!! 1.. 2.. 2 AND 9/10! The crowd is on FIRE now, as they thought that was it. Eiji drills Jeff with a Corkscrew Back Drop, and then heads up.... DEATH FROM ABOVE!! 1.. 2.. 2.999999! Eiji is PISSED. He looks for a Bicycle Kick but that's ducked and JVD hits the MIGHTY FOOT!! He follows up with the ELECTRIC FIRECRACKER!! 1.. 2.. 2.999999! JVD |

sets up a ladder, but gets CHUCKED into it by Eiji. Eiji follows up with a BRUTAL Fireman's Carry into the ladder! Jeff is literally convulsing on the mat now. Eiji pops up, and the crowd is seriously hating him now. He does the J-V-D thumb taunt, and pulls Jeff up for the H-EDGE.. no! Countered by JVD into a CROSSFACE!! TA.. TA.. Eiji rolls with it, and gets a Slingshot into the Ladder!! Jeff turns, and walks right into the H-EDGE!! 1.. 2.. 2.9999999999!! Eiji goes NUTS with the stomps, literally kicking Jeff in the face each time. He pulls him up again, and knees him in the gut. He looks for another H-EDGE, but Jeff does this sweet standing switch, which puts him right in position for the VAN DAMAGER!!! We get a KO Spot, as Jeff can't get to the pin. Troy Dank (commentator) goes bonkers here, screaming at Eiji to get up before JVD. Finally, Jeff Van Damage is up, and Eiji is up as well. Jeff kicks Eiji in the back of the leg, leaving him on his knees.. and it's BUZZSAW TIME!! Kick to the chest, kick to the chest, kick to the chest, slap the mat, the scream.. but Eiji ducks the face kick with a back sweep, and follows up with a Standing Moonsault! Crowd applauds the motion, as Eiji climbs the ladder, but Jeff pops up, and joins him. They fight, but Jeff eats the ladder, and takes the H-CUTTER OFF THE LADDER!!! Jeff with the TANTRUM SELL! 1..2.. 2.999999999! Jeff's got the Misawa kickout down pat. Eiji heads up, looking for a 450, but Jeff pops up, races off the ropes, and nails a Springboard Dropkick to the ladder, sending Eiji all the way to the floor!! Jeff heads up the ladder again, and nails the SHOOTING STAR PLANCHA OFF THE TOP OF THE LADDER!! Ugly, but totally on point. What's funny is that you won't see Jeff do that again, even thought it's only been two years. Jeff wants the pin on the floor, but the referee reminds him on the "pin-in-the-ring" rules, and Jeff has to drag him in. He climbs up the ladder again, and signals for the Frog Splash, but Eiji pops up! He grabs the chair and SMASH-MOUTHS Jeff in the face, stopping his climb. He climbs up to, looking to get the H-EDGE OFF THE LADDER- Jeff elbows out!! VAN DAMAGER OFF THE LADDER- Eiji elbows out!! Jeff fires off a Roundhouse Kick around the ladder(!), smashes Eiji's head off the top of the ladder, and.. HO.. LY.. SHIT.. MIRACLE ECSTACY BOMB OFF THE LADDER!! ONE.. TWO.. THREE!! Winner: Jeff Van Damage (17:08) Well, god damn, that was vicious. Jeff's bleeding a mess, Eiji is dead, and this was just INSANE!! This is a reminder of the spot machine Jeff used to be, and while it's a lot of fun to watch, it's a far cry from the mat god he is. This was just Jeff's way of doing a throw-back to 97-99, when he was all about the spots. Match was great, especially all the insane spots and awesome, AWESOME selling from both guys, but it pales in comparison to their RAW World Title Match. Still, the bumps (One Man Con-Chair-To on the Pole, anyone?) were brutal, and the action was fast, thus it gets a Standing Ovation from the crowd in attendance. |
