" FATHER "
From out of His bosom; God made man,
To fill the Earth and till the land.
HE gave to him His greatest love;
The stars, the sky, the moon above.
The years He gives are precious few,
But He's made them enjoyable and fruitful too.
The road seems short and full of bends,
We travel it, laden heavy with sins.
We look to Heaven in our time of need,
God smiles down and restores His seed.
God watches over you as you walk the straight and narrow,
HE will take note of you just as He did the lowly Sparrow.
So wrap yourself in the blanket of His love,
And know that God sends you strength on the wings of a dove.

                                      The Story behind this Poem
At 4 AM on 6/13/72 I received a call that my dad had had a very bad heart attack or stroke and might not make it. I live in another state so I asked to speak to the  doctor. The doctor came on the phone and said that he didn't hold out much hope as he'd lost him three times already and that if he did live he would be paralized at best. I immediately began to pray and grabbed a pen and wrote this poem and then sort of put myself in a state of selfhyponosis and imagined him in the intensive care and the IV bottles etc. and I willed my strength to flow from my body and into his through those IV lines.  I was so intense that I fell asleep. The phone awakened me at 5 AM and it was dad's doctor and he was all excited and sayings things like "Its a Miracle " and "I've heard other doctors talk of things like this, but never seen it until now" "I just saw a Miracle" etc. He said that dad had actually died three times and came back and was in there trying to get the tube out of his neck and saying that he had to get out of the hospital as he had to get back to work as he had a family to take care of. I was in shock as I'd never heard a doctor so excited and sounding like a kid that got his wildest dream fullfilled. He wasn't taking the credit for it either, just saying that a Miricle of God had just occurred There may be some that read this that will laugh or be skeptical, but whether it was my praying, dad's strong will or just God's Will I will never know, but one thing's for sure I truly believe it made the deciding difference between his life and death. My father had a complete recovery with no effects from it all, went back to work and lived until November 10, 1986. So never doubt the power of prayer and faith in God. I think they are on the rise as back then you didn't hear much about them and now they have books and TV shows dedicated to them. ....MASH
