           “ Friend ”

One who regards you warmly
with his mind,
Is not only gentle but also
kind.

One that when they are blue,
Know that they can always
count on you.

One that always remains the
the same.
Does not step on you in the
pursuit of fame.
Remembers your face and never
forgets your name.

One that never involves you
in some absurd game_
Never uses you or brings you
to shame.

One on which you can always
rely_
Has the ability to laugh as
well as cry,
Will never give up without a
try.
When leaving will always call
to say goodbye.

One who is able to roll with
the punches’
Can make a banquet out of
simple lunches.
One who enjoys a single rose
as opposed to bunches.

One that when you speak, will
really listen,
By their mere presence can make
a day glisten.

One that comforts you when you
are sad_
Forgives you should you
perchance, to make them mad.
When your project falls through,
will be unhappy, rather than glad.

One that trust you to sit with
them when they’re ill.
Will take their medicine, even
though its a bitter pill.

One who’ll search the book store
over,
Just to find you that one copy
of “Daisy Clover”.

One who doesn’t correct your
grammatical errors.
Doesn’t laugh when you get a
case of the terrors.

Never compares their kids
to mine,
Never fails to repay a dime.

To elaborate further would
be redundant,
For a friend is one who
gathers love in abundance.

If you view all of the above
as a passing trend_
Then you, dear person, will
never be called friend.
