"The Giving Child"
The giving child bears the brunt of the load_ They always travel the roughest road.
They're expected to sacrifice and do all of the giving_ While the other siblings get all the credit and do all the living.
You were the giving child and you did it with a good heart_ It was a burden you were destined to carry from the start.
The giving child at some point will rebel_ But underneath they are put through a moral hell.
To shirk a self inposed duty can be done- But for the giving child the guilt lurks in the distance and it isn't any fun.
Its easy for the giving child to forget the years of dedication_ And remember only that moment in time when they opted for their own emancipation.
So if a little guilt should ever rear its ugly head_ Put it in an iron box, close the lid and hold it down until its dead.
The bonds are never broken by the giving child_ But as parents get older they tend to forget for a while.
In the end its always the giving child that rallies round_ Diligently standing by the bedside monitoring every sound.
In the blink of God's eye when all's over and done_ The giving child can stand with a clear conscience and face the setting sun.
Be it gift or curse, it'll be remembered then_ This child so giving_ Her name is Friend.
