Kanata Choral Society MIDI Files

These are MIDI files to help Kanata Choral Society members learn their parts. Please report any errors to Ken Hayward.

Titles are MIDI files containing all parts evenly. The corresponding files with named parts (e.g., Tenor) have that part twice as loud as the other parts.

Most personal computers equipped with speakers will have at least one MIDI player installed already. Some free examples include Windows Media Player, Real One Player, and iTunes.

Microsoft's "Windows Media Player" version 9 or higher will let you alter your playback speed.  Remember that you can use the ‘slider’ to move backwards or forwards in the piece, especially to replay a particular portion multiple times.

Heidi Sprung found the following page containing many useful links, including a link to an Italian pronunciation guide: http://www.concentus.org/resources_for_singers.html

Ghislaine Marceau recommends the following sites:

This First site is a 30 day free trial that will allow you to convert midi files to .WAV .MP3 or .WMA  This is great if like me you find sitting in your office chair in front of your computer a little impractical for practice as the converted formats can be burned onto a CD.

http://www.pistonsoft.com/free-midi-to-mp3-converter.html

This second site s also a free trial, it has no time limit but it does not allow you to save. However this one is great as it allows you to change instruments, tempo and balance of the parts. I have found it really useful thus far, it shows you a time so it is easy to go back to a specific place and repeat, also it makes it very easy to emphasize your part on a difficult section and then re-adjust the balance to practice it as it will be.
