Dear Parents/Guardians,

This year I will be using on online grade book that will allow you to go online and check your child’s progress in my class.  Students will also have access to their own record.  This grade book is offered through mygradebook.com. 

Mygradebook is a full-featured, completely secure Internet site that allows teachers to create accounts online and store their students’ scores.  It has a “parent/student viewer” that allows you to log in and view only your child’s grade.  In order to use this feature, you will need to receive, from me, a password to access only your child’s summary.  Mygradebook allows all of us – the teacher, the parent, and the student – to work together to ensure your child’s success in school.  Be sure to include your email address in order to receive updates on tests, quizzes, projects and recently added grades.  I will post homework for the following week every Friday. Just click the calendar tab to check assignments. Even if you do not have access to the Internet, this tool is helpful for your child to use during study halls with school computers.

I intend to create files with each child’s first name and only the first two letters of their last name.  Although the site is secure, I feel this extra security is necessary.

If you have any further questions, please contact me.  Please sign the permission slip below.  In the next few days, I will be meeting with each student to give him/her the password information.  Obviously, maintaining security means students should not share their password with anyone.
