~ Angel Of The Night ~
I often try to fall asleep
But sleep it does not come,
I toss I turn I even weep
I pray to God, for sleep!
The nights are so still,
They are so long, you feel
Every thought, every pain,
Why, you have nothing to gain.
Just listen for the gentle rain.
When thoughts and pain of life
Take over my nights so strong
Where I often wonder what went wrong.
Why my lifes roads are filled with strife!
I turn to prayer for others!
One night not to long ago
When another night was filled with woes
I lie praying for others in need,
I felt a touch upon my cheek!
It was so gentle, it was so soft.
I knew it must be a dream indeed!
As I heard a whispering sound ,
I ask Lord is that you, then I hear
This gentle voice say no, but do not fear,
Its only me making my nightly rounds.
I rubbed my eyes in disbelief,
Surley I must be asleep.
But there upon my bed post
Sat the sweetest little angel!
I knew I was luckier than most.
For I do beleive in angels!
She said I've come to help you,
I know you need me,
So you wont be blue.
So you can put away your troubles,
And rest as, God would want you too.
I ask her why me, this paticular night?
She said I heard you pray for others,
Asking God to help them, thru the night.
With not a prayer for you did I hear,instead,
You were asking for others,
to be alright!
I knew you needed prayers,
So I came,to help you out.
You see I am called the
Angel of the Night,
I pray with all my might.
She closed her eyes and gently
Touched me with her wing,
She spoke so softly, as
She prayed for me,
This little Angel of the night
I felt a calmness come over me
I felt the love she sent to see,
That God knew my love for Him,
I felt at peace,
As a river flowing free.
To know this Angel had prayed for me.
Now at times, when nights
I do not sleep,for pain
That makes me toss and turn,
I listen for a gentle rain
And for others I do pray.
Thats when I always know
My gentle angel of the night
Will return to help me thru,
She will pray for me
As I will pray for thee.
