Here at Kiwyn Samoyeds, there has been a great number of dogs fostered (most have been adopted). Due to the numbers We decided to create a rescue page.
First of all, let me tell you who we've fostered dogs for. In 1997, we started fostering for Midatlantic Samoyed rescue (MASR). We, to date, have fostered 9 males and 4 females samoyed for them along with pulling/overnighting another male and female. Most of those we have rescued from the pound ourselves and brought into the rescue organization.
In 1999, we started helping out AARF (Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation) with transportation of fostered dogs to their stands. In February of 2000, we took in our first foster for AARF and it's been going crazy ever since. We have fostered as few as one at a time for AARF to as many as 13 at a time. We presently have 2 AARF fosters in our home. Once we place the last 2 AARF fosters we plan on leaving AARF due to political reasons.
On November 19th, 2002 we started fostering for one of the local humane societies by saving a female from the county pound before she could be euthanized.
In the years that we've been fostering for AARF we have had to experience some of the downsides to doing rescue. One such case was Cleo, of whom still to this day has a heart of gold. To see her story please grab some tissue and click on the button below.
In April of 2004, we took in yet another sad case, this time a 6 month old mixed northern breed puppy. To read his story please click on the button below.
In 2001, we had a very sad time here at Kiwyn. We lost one of our fosters (Dominique) to an untimely death. So we created her a memorial page.
