RUSSELL
James Russell and his family left Northern Ireland in 1770 on a ship called the HOPEWELL.  They arrived in Charlston, South Carolina in December 1770.
James Russell applied for land on January 17, 1771 and recieved 300 acres of land along Jackson Creek, in Craven County, now Fairfield County, SC.

James Russell, a stone mason,  built the Jackson Creek Church, on the land he donated and is now buried.

He is buried in Old Lebanon Cemetery.

James was married to Mary Hutchinson.
