1970 - Willie Kay and Trevor Morris in USA. Willie Kay totally
rebuilt the Chevy II engine for Morris after difficulties in qualifying
in the USAC racing circuit. From qualifying only 17th fastest he
gradually moved up to 9th - and finally won his first race on US dirt,
against the cream of USAC. Trevor Morris was the first New Zealander
to achieve this success since Frank (Satan) Brewer more than 20 years previous.
Note the roll-cage which was introduced to NZ Speedway by Morris on his
return
to NZ, with the Midget.
