Welcome

The First Easter Song
By Justa Mudder

I know you have heard,
About Jesus who died,
After being falsely accused,
And then crucified.

And of the wealthy man, Joseph
Who received the reward
Of providing the tomb
For his cruelly martyred Lord.

Near that tomb there grew a tree,
Where a sparrow sat upon her nest.
And much to her chagrin one night,
Something happened to disturb her rest.

When she looked to see what happened,
She saw Jesus about to be entombed.
Great sadness welled up inside her,
As all around her sorrow loomed.

She looked upon His lifeless face,
And then saw the nail pierced feet.
She burst into a song of sorrow,
Which all night long she did repeat.

She sang through her tears,
So loud and so long
It seemed the grief of the world
Was expressed in her song.

Then two nights later there came,
An angel robed in white,
And the bird saw the angel roll the stone away
From in front of the tomb that night.

The sparrow then saw the Lord
Come out of that dark place
“He has risen!” the bird exclaimed,
As she again looked upon His face.

Her heart was now filled,
With such great delight,
And she burst forth with a song
That was so happy and bright!

The angel stopped to listen,
To the birds song of mirth,
And realized that it hailed,
Christ risen again upon the earth!

The angel said, “Dear bird you’re blessed.”
For the angel saw the birds insight,
And knew the tiny sparrow saw
Death bow down, to the Lord, that night.

That little sparrow
Who sang to perfection
Was the very first one
To make the eternal connection.
