A New Beginning

It is amazing how things change in your life. In 2002 I had a serious accident at the beach that left my right ankle broken in 3 places. Had wondered if I'd ever be able to walk normal again. I was also divorced in December. Having made many mistakes in love I was finally in a position that I could take care of myself completely. Had a fairly good job and benefits where I could support myself. I knew if I ever got married again it would be because I was truly in Love and not because I needed someone to take care of me.

On a fluke June 14th I filled out a profile on Yahoo. I was just playing around with it and looking to see if anyone close to where I lived would respond. I honestly never expected anything to become of it. During the first week I received a few replies from men in the local area. I even went out for dinner with one and another I met at a fast food resturant for a soda. Both were very nice but wasn't sure that I would want anything more than a friendship with them. About a week after submitting my profile I received a instant message from someone I didn't know but to be nice I sent him a message back to say hi. What a life changing event that message was. Found out we did not live in the same town but he was close by. I was so drawn to him and from that point. We spent so many hours online talking to each and on the phone. Then we decided it was time to meet face to face. We made a date to spend July 4th together. Lamar arrived at my house about 1:30pm, we talked for a couple of hours. He brought lots of pictures of his family and home to show me and I showed him pictures of my family. After that we went out for a nice dinner and then found a place where we could watch the fireworks later. We ended up down on the beach for that. Since it had been raining a lot we decided to sit under the fishing pier, that way if it started raining we would have a little shelter. We still had a couple of hours until time for the fireworks so we sat there and told each other our lifes history. Holding back nothing. What we didn't know about each other before we met we did by the time the fireworks began. We had a breath taking view of the fireworks and after they were over went for a long walk on the beach and then finally back to boardwalk to sit and talk some more. By that time it was getting late and we knew it was time to be getting back to my house. By the time we said goodnight I think we both knew that we had found the special person we both had been looking for. From that point on we were online with each other before and after work each day and spent every weekend together. Even tho it was fast, we soon decided that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Since I had never been to the mountains, we planned a long weekend in the Smokies for my birthday but that weekend turned into our wedding. Lamar wanted our wedding to be something special that we would always remember. So we began searching online and found a wedding chapel and reserved it. We also reserved a log cabin for our honeymoon. We thought it would be just the 2 of us but decided to tell family members when and where we were getting married. Before long our wedding for just the 2 of us turned into quite an affair. We ended up having 16 members of our family there for the wedding. We were married August 30th at 5:00pm in Pigeon Forge, TN. Since we couldn't plan a reception, we all had dinner together at the Apple Tree Restaurant and then everyone kind of did their own thing. We have quite a wedding tale but that is another story.

We both believe it was devine intervention that brought us together. We both now believe in love at first sight. The love we share is so special and so right. A love that neither of us had ever had before. I am the type of person that never would of quit my job and started moving before we were married if I was not 100% sure that it was the right thing for me. I had NO reservations at all and quit my job Aug. 22nd. Now that 2003 is coming to a close, we have had 4 wonderful months of marriage and we are praying that the Good Lord will give us many more years together.
