To Laska's Place
Laska was our second siberian husky that we fell in love with and because we loved her so much we decided to name our kennel after her.
Laska was the only other unregistered siberian husky that we owned, the first being Chelsey.
We bought Laska in Moncton N.B. from Todd and Angela Manuel which now resides out West(Canada) and operates under the kennel name "Leunam Kennels".
Laska was a grey and white bitch with brown eyes and an excellent temperment. We nicknamed her "Houdini" because she was constantly finding a way out of her kennel and going for a run. I can't count how many times my cousin, Lauralee, and myself would hit the streets in search for her at one end of our city and my husband at the other. She was like "Campbellton's  Most Wanted" because I was constantly calling our local S.P.C.A., City animal control officer, our local radio station, the R.C.M.P. as well as our local DNR office to report that she was on the loose! Needless to say that after too many times of her getting loose and getting sprayed by skunks as well as receiving a few porcupine quills, I decided that something HAD to be done. I spoke to many people about dog obedience and pretty well everyone told me "you can't teach a sibe obedience,, they are too hard headed! and "give it up, it's a sibe!" Well since I was so afraid that she would get hit by a car, I ignored all the so called advice I received and searched for an obedience trainer. I was so lucky to find a fantastic trainer. His name is Reggie Hanson and he teaches "Dog Phycology". When I called him and told him my problem he told me there would be no problem training her for obedience. I then told Reggie that if he could teach Laska anything, I would give him a gold medal. He then told me that he would teach her nothing but would teach me how to train her and so, the lessons began. We(Laska and I) took a eight week course in Dog Phycology! The first week I was amazed at what I learned and I really couldn't beleive what Laska was learning!! Needless to say, at the end of the eight week course, Laska excelled in her obedience and passed with flying colors!!! She actually looked at me with respect in her eyes rather than indifference. If any of you own a sibe and is reading this, then you know the exact look I'm talking about. So Laska proved all the disbeleivers wrong. So if anyone tells you basically what everyone told me.... DON"T LISTEN TO THEM!! Find yourself a good trainer and have fun with your sibe in obedience and in the end you'll be proud!

We had Laska for two and a half years before she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Unfortunately she was taken from us by the thing that I feared the most, a car. We had just left three of our dogs in the care of a dog sitter and was on our way to our first dog show with two others. The sitter told us that he went in to give them some treats right after we pulled out of the yard and she got loose. He said that she was running on the highway in the direction that we went. He figures she was gone to look for us. Unfortunately a car hit her before the sitter could find her. When we arrived at the dog show, the sitter had called and told our friend what happened and he told my husband. Perry didn't want to ruin my first dog show so didn't tell me until two days later as we were getting ready to leave for home. Needless to say, both my husband and I were upset and alot of tears were spilled. He had been holding everything in for three days because he knew that I would want to leave for home and he didn't want my first dog show to be ruined. When we got home the sitter had buried her on the hill behind our barn. I went up and cried, said a prayer and just talked to her for awhile. She was a great girl and we are honored to have her name as our kennel name.
