In March of 1999, we brought all the dogs for their annual physical and shots and at that time we were told that Andie had breast cancer. We were told that surgury was an option but no promises could be made that by having the surgery Andie's life would be better or longer. Perry, Adam and myself talked about what we should do and after many talks and many sleepless nights, we decided not to have the surgery. Our reason for this was simple. If they opened her up the cancer would spread faster. We decided that we would let her live out her life as she was until we saw that she was suffering. Then we would have no choice but to do the right thing and let her go by putting her down.
Well with a heavy heart I have to tell you that Andie crossed the Rainbow Bridge on February 5th, 2001. She would have been 12 years old in April. I will add a Tribute to our girl at the end of this page. If it isn't there yet, I'm still working on it. |

Andie was born on April 10th, 1989.
Her Sire was Can/Am CH. Arcticlight's Silver Shadrin CD, owned by Eric Van Loo, owner of Arcticlight Kennels in Ontario Canada.
Her Dam was SnowMist's Licorice Twist, owned by Robert Mann, owner of Krilak Kennels in Grimsby Ontario Canada.
My husband bought Andie for me for my birthday in February 1992. I decided to get a finished bitch rather than a puppy. My reason being that she was already proven as a Canadian champion and also, she had a great pedigree. We wanted to start out our kennel with a great foundation bitch and we found one in Andie.
We bred Andie three times, the last litter being whelped in 1996.
The first time we bred Andie, we went to Moncton N.B. Home of CH. Karnovanda Kandykare Shaman, owned by Cheryl and Sheldon MacKnight and also owners of Kandykare Kennels.
She whelped a healthy litter of seven on November 16th, 1993.

The second time that we bred Andie it was to a lead sled dog. His name is Pete Smokey Sachem and he is owned by Andre Picard from Edmundston N.B. She whelped a healthy litter of nine on December 27th, 1994. Unfortunately I can't find the pictures we had of them. I either lost or misplaced them when we moved but as soon as I find them, I'll put them up. |
