| Although not up to the scratch of Craven's later box office winners, "Last House on the Left" has become a major cult film. This must have been expected - since any movie that battles society's limits deserves more than one look. The cult success has kept "Last House" afloat for years, and with Craven's rising recognition it crops up in horror discussions frequently. It is worth knowing that the BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) has watched the film quite recently, and it has been passed as "18", albeit with cuts. But in a crazy world, this is a brilliant sign. "Last House on the Left" is decades old, but it still shocks viewers, in this case the BBFC. I bet the cult followers are pleased with that. |
