Rated: Unrated Released by: CIC Video Approximate Run Time: 82 mins? (Run Time unclear) Format: NTSC (America and Canada) Sound: Mono/Stereo? (Specifications unclear) Released around the same time as the American Vestron edition, this is said to contain the same footage as the banned British release, except it features the chicken truck scene as well as the end credits. Like the American video, this release crops up frequently, and has been reasonably easy to get hold of in second-hand video stores, and some rental outlets in the US. It's value isn't great, but die-hard collector's will find it a worthy purchase, like all others. This edition was subsequently over-shadowed by the more mainstream Vestron video in American stores. |
Picture Very grainy, this edition features a transfer quality not too unlike the Vestron video. Technically poor by today's standards, this release has a fairly decent transfer of a very low budget film, but it isn't as well produced as it could have been. Surprisingly, the banned UK release had a much better quality transfer, and here the picture has too many glitches. There are a number of scratches as well as some blurriness unseen on other releases. Sound There is a lack of substantial details in this area of the release, so I am led to believe that it is probably presented in mono, like other releases from the period. Very few 'Last House' copies have included a more clearer stereo soundtrack. The mono soundtrack would no doubt be muffled with some areas of dialogue, and the music wouldn't be as crisp and clear. Overall Unless you are a completist, this release isn't at all necessary as a purchase. In most respects, it mirrors the slightly superior Vestron video.
