Matthew Alexander Eason Wilkinson, M.D. F.R.C.P., b 09 OCT 1813 St Peters, Manchester, Lancashire   d 26 JUL 1878  Lancashire; Prominent Physician at Manchester Royal Infirmary in the UK , and shortly before his death President of the British Medical Association. He was also Lord of the Manor of Dringhouses which is near to York. Reading his address to the British Medical Association of 11 Aug 1877, I can see that he is in the reformer mode of Nightingale, quoting her, and very much concerned about sanitation and reform. Manor had come down through a long line of Barlows from Humphrey Barlow 1596 -1634 of Sheffield, and the last Barlow incumbent John Barlow d. 1813 had married Frances Bayley 1784 - 1863 who was from a rather eminent Manchester family. Their only daughter Frances Barlow 1807 - 1852 therefore inhereted the title which passed to her first husband, Edward Trafford Leigh 1801 - 1847, and after his death as there were no children, she married Matthew A E Wilkinson in 1851 so it passed to him. The marriage didn't last long as she died in 1852, and Matthew married Louisa Laetitia Walker 1823 - 1889, in 1854, who from the evidence was already in the family circle before Frances's death. The manor passed to their son George Alexander Eason Wilkinson 1860 - 1941 after the death of his father.

Notice:
Condolences to family of Mr. Peter Stone, in death of his wife Mrs. Sally (Sarah) Stone. . Notification below
I deeply regret to have to announce that Sally died peacefully in the Cardiac ICU of Ruttonjee Hospital, Hong Kong at 1830 HK time on 19th December. All her immediate family were at her bedside and she had received excellent professional and caring attention from the hospital staff.
She had been unwell for the previous 4 weeks and a previously undiagnosed irreversible chronic heart condition was discovered early this month. She was determined to be in Hong Kong to celebrate what was likely to be the last Christmas with her full immediate family for some years as Jeremy and Mandy leave for Washington DC late this month to take up a new post at the IMF HQ. Fortunately, her strength of character and our local GP in Nottingham Road (Carel Swarts) were able to stabilize her condition sufficiently to enable her to undertake the long flight and we arrived here on the 14th. She had two super days with the family but was taken severely ill on Tuesday and admitted to hospital.
Her funeral will take place at St John's Cathedral at 3 pm on Monday, 22nd December and thereafter a private cremation at Cape Collinson. She expressed the desire for her ashes to eventually be placed in the Hobkirk family plot at Trelleck Parish Church in Gwent, Wales.
