Kanreki
Hosts: LeRoy's Family
Traditionally, the
birthday boy's family hosts the party. And that is exactly who
hosted LeRoy's kanreki party: LeRoy's ever-lovin' and fun lovin'
wife Faith, son Kent and his wife Loreen, daughter Kisa, and
grandson Kyle.
How did they pull off
LeRoy's surprise Kanreki party?
They distracted LeRoy by
spending the morning with the fishes at The
Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach with Loreen's parents,
Larry and Bobbie, and her brother, Brian. The plan was on the
way home, back to the Valley, they'd stop off at The Seafood Express
restaurant in Gardena for lunch.
LeRoy was told that
reservations were for 3 o'clock. A retired engineer, LeRoy's
still a stickler for precision -- and punctuality -- and he fretted
a bit when they were caught in traffic at 2:30.
When he arrived, we, his
guests, were completely hyped and screamed "Surprise!!!!!"
as soon as we caught sight of him. Miraculously, Grandson Kyle
slept through all this excitement, so tuckered out was he from
seeing all the fishes.
We thank you for a
wonderful celebration of a dear friend, who happens to be your
husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather, respectively.
The multi-coursed, bountiful Chinese dinner -- with soup, varied
seafood dishes with shrimp, fish and scallops, noodle dish and
Chinese broccoli -- was delicious and ample. And the
cake was fabulous. (Be sure to take a look at it in the Party Photo
Album)
Also thank you for being
a fine example of filial
piety:
The aged shall be loved and respected as those who have for many years contributed toward the development of society and a
wholesome and peaceful life shall be guaranteed to them.
