P.E.S College of Engineering, Mandya is one of the pioneer engineering college in
India.It is affiliated to the University of Mysore and is recognized by the all India
Council for technical education, New Delhi. It is an institution functioning under the
grant-in-aid scheme of Government of Karnataka. The College was established in the year
1962 by the People's Education Society now known as People's Education Trust (R), with the
help of philanthropic farmers of Mandya district. Late Sri K.V.Shankaregowda, former
education minister of government of Karnataka, founded this society. He was a person with
a missionary zeal and long cherished ambition to promote and disseminate Knowledge, serving
generally the cause of Education.
The Institution is being well managed by a Governing Council with members drawn from People's Education Trust(R), and representatives from University of Mysore, Government of Karnataka, Government of India and all India council for Technical Education, as per statutory requirement. Presently Sri H. D. Chowdaiah, MLC who is the Chairman of the People's Education Trust, which manages six Education Institutions. is the chairman of Governing Council of the College. Sri K.S. Sachidananda, MLC the Secretary of People's Education Trust, and Sri. H.Honnappa, MLC Jt. Secretary, People's Education Trust(R), are also the members of the Governing Council.
The College campus is located in the South Western part of Mandya City(India), along the Bangalore-Mysore Highway, on an elevated and sprawling plot of 62 acres of land. Mandya city is the district head Quarters and is 100 Kms from Bangalore and 45 Kms from Mysore. Mandya is well connected by a Highway and a broad guage railway line. Mandya District is predominantly an agricultural area. The district receives water for irrigation from the world famous K.R.S Dam built across the Cauvery River. It is known as the Rice Bowl of Karnataka. The lush green fields of Sugar Cane and Paddy is a pleasing sight to all those who pass by Mandya is also bounded by scenic splendours like Gaganachukki, Barachukki, water falls at Shivanasamudram, Brindavan Gardens at KRS and Historical place of interest in Srirangapatna. |
