After talking to most of the hotels in Charleston I found a few that could meet our needs but only a couple that charged under $200.00 per night. After talking to Gerald we decided to make the Embassy Suites in North Charleston our gathering place for this summer.
The Embassy Suites North Charleston, SC hotel is located adjacent to the North Charleston Area Convention Center, the North Charleston Coliseum and the North Charleston Performing Arts Center and only two miles from the Charleston International Airport. The Hotel provides free Airport shuttle.
Each suite is beautifully decorated with a private bedroom and spacious living room. All of the suites are fully equipped with two televisions, a refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, two telephones with data ports and a well lit dining/work table. Each guest receives a complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast, a nightly manager's reception (Free snacks and drinks). Room rates are $159.00 + tax.
All the big name hotels book up quickly for the summer in the Charleston area. We have 10 rooms Thursday at the discounted rate. The number of rooms increases on Friday and Saturday to a guaranteed 15 rooms and more if you book your room early. The contract with Embassy Suites should be signed by mid to late December.

In 2006 Cynthia did a Great job with the DNA presentation. She is helping us find a speaker this year. Cynthia’s help is really appreciated. Our search for the accommodations held up the newsletter a little bit, but there is a reason. We have to enter into a contract with the Embassy Suites that requires us to be responsible for 85% of the cost of the rooms blocked in but not used if they can’t rent them. We really don’t think this will be a problem, because we know we are going to have a really good time in Charleston.
