A.J.'s pick of the best game
for that month.
I
now have a "Game of The Month" feature. This will be
ONLY available here, on {or from} this web page. I am going to LIGHTLY
(ha!) analyze a recent GM
Game. The emphasis will be on a game that was played recently, and at least ONE
of the participants will have to have been a recognized FIDE GM. "TWIC"
will
probably be the source for this venture.
March
18th, 2004. From now on, I will only list the
current game, and the game from the previous month. But don't worry!
I almost
never throw stuff away. I have created an "Game Of the
Month," ARCHIVES Page.
On that page I will store all the 'old' games. (& links)
December, 2004: I have decided to
greatly reduce this feature. [Read
why.]
June, 2009: ALL
Geo-Cities sites will be discontinued ... probably around the end of the summer.
Therefore, my GOTM site has moved.

- Game
# 36
(September, 2006)
Two "Super GM's" (both are rated 2700+),
square off in this game from the Spanish Team
Championship. (Many of the world's
best players compete in this event ... all playing
for various teams.) A sharp - and a
theoretically important game in the Semi-Slav ...
... ... are the result, in the end, Black
succumbs to White's sustained assault. Good
analysis, and lots of interesting and
informative links, so do not miss this
game!

- Game #
37
(October, 2006)
You haven't seen Topalov get defeated
in too many
games the last few years, but here he was solidly
beaten. Who managed to defeat the
the former World Champ ... and who was the masked
man who pulled off this feat?
This is a carefully annotated game ... and one that
took a long time to complete.
******************* (There
was no games from November, 2006 until March, 2007. My wife has been repeatedly
ill, and I also had a depressingly large number of computer problems and
crashes.)

- Game #
38
(March, 2007)
From the Morelia/Linares tournament ...
this game - where Black wins - shows what my
readers have often requested.
("Show me a game where Black wins once
in a while.") It is annotated, and there
and there are plenty of links. It also
dovetails nicely with the October column.
-
- Game #
39
(April, 2007) Here is a variation of
the Torre Attack, an opening
that many readers have requested that I
cover. Its a nice game - it was almost a
miniature -
where White gets an attack down the half-open h-file. The GM who
plays
White is not afraid of sacking a little
material, and there are 16 diagrams, so you
can probably follow this one, even if you do
not have a board handy. Enjoy!
-
- Game #
40
(May, 2007) One of the world's
youngest GM's continues to improve
... AND impress! Here he defeats a solid 2600+ GM
in a "must-win" situation ... and
winds up grabbing clear first place in this
tournament. (Cat. XII) A nice game - with links.
If
you have seen an interesting game, that has been played recently, please bring
it to my attention. Remember, I have to be able to verify this game in TWIC
or ChessBase BEFORE
I will even consider trying to annotate it!! (Page created August, 2003.)
