Disc 4 Epilogue
By: Quatre Raberba Winner (Quatre-Chan/Onna-Quatre)
Dorothy watched the four boys from the side of the airship. Not once had Mura told her that they were actually capable of being human.
Heero got to his feet and composed himself before approaching the summoner. Quatre and Trowa followed the paladin’s lead and neared the raven-haired boy. The white knight knelt in front of WuFei, “What are you holding?”
“It’s a pendant that she wore. She had said that someone from her childhood gave it to her. It might have fallen off during the fight.”
The Prussian eyed boy nodded in agreement, “If it’s something that has sentimental value…” he thought about it. “Romefeller doesn’t seem like they would want their soldiers to be sentimental about anything. Look at Mura, she was once a kind, sweet and gentle person, but once she got close to the Empire she had become nothing but a heartless warrior.”
“I agree…” everyone’s eyes turned to the white mage. His aqua orbs shimmered with tears. “She killed my mother, the king of Vishira and many other innocence. But…” he shut his eyes tightly.
Trowa placed a strong hand on his koibito’s shoulder, “What he’s trying to say is that she didn’t deserve to die. She did regret those lives she had taken.”
Heero gave him a confused look, “How could you know something like that?”
“If you remember in the Forest of Sorrow she freaked out when we started to talk about her majesty Quatrine. She set fire to the entire kingdom, a woman walks up to her, covered in blood…”
“Wait” WuFei, said as he stood from the ground, “she said that was her hometown.”
“She lied before. Perhaps something similar happened in her hometown, but we’ll never know. What we do know is that she killed a lot people in Vishira by setting the town in a blaze. But when we were in the forest she told us that it was her home, to cover up the fact that she was a Romefeller soldier.”
The blond nodded and wiped away his tears. “She might have known that Duo would destroy the planet and she sacrificed her self to save the whole world. I’m not saying all the killing she had done was right… but she was sorry and died to increase our chances at living.”
Heero nodded again, “The question still remains; why would Romefeller let her wear something like this?”
“Perhaps that question could be answered by the elder.” Three sets of eyes turned to the summoner, all questioning him with their gaze. “The elder of Irrishi has vast knowledge of relics. If this has any kind of power, he’ll be the one to tell us.” he placed the necklace around his neck.
The paladin broke away from the group and advanced toward the blond female next to the airship, Libra. “Dorothy.”
“Mura had given me orders to take you to the next town and I will not go back on my word.”
“Good. Take us to the village of summoners, Irrishi.”
Not saying anything the blue-eyed girl boarded the ship with the four boys in toe. Waiting for a brief moment the airship took off.
* * *
Nearing closer and closer to the village the sky had become darkened by thick smoke. WuFei’s eyes widened, not wasting any time he held his hand out over the edge of the ship, “Mizu, come forth!”
The water dragon appeared next to the aircraft, flying at the same pace they were. Carefully the onyx-eyed boy climbed on the rim of the ship, which caught the attention of everyone. Without a second thought he jumped off.
“WuFei!” Quatre shouted in shock until he saw the blue and aqua dragon fly ahead of them with the summoner riding on its back.
Heero looked at the pilot, “Land here. Once we get off, find somewhere safe to retreat to.”
Slowly Libra was lowered to the ground. Quickly as possible the three travelers jumped off and ran in pursuit of the other boy. When they reached the village they were speechless. Every inch of the town was in flames and only a few inches ahead of them was an infuriated WuFei.
The summoner shouted commands to the water dragon, but had it counteracted by a man with short, dark brown hair and devious violet eyes. The man chuckled as he watched the young summoner’s efforts. “You can’t do a single thing against me. Your efforts are in vain just like that of your wife’s…”
WuFei’s eye twitched, “I thought I recognized you…” concentrating his energy into his ring, he held it out to Mizu, “Tidal Wave.”
The dragon shrieked and before the man could react, a large wave of water came his way. Everything was drenched and the flames had been extinguished. The violet-eyed man laughed again as he stood, “Just like I thought. You do live up to being KaiRyu’s son…”
“I thought I told you never to compare me to that bastard!”
He flipped his hair in annoyance, “But whether you like it or not, you will always be compared to the best and sooner or later that will be me. Until, then Summoner.” and just like nothing he vanished into thin air.
The raven-haired summoner fell to knees after calling his monster back. He held his hand over his mouth as he tried desperately to calm himself down.
Quatre ran from the others and to the fallen boy’s side, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder and just like that night in Starlight, he slapped the hand away. WuFei’s eyes were full of anger as he glared at the mage, “I told you once before. Don’t touch me.”
Heero and Trowa had searched the town and found no survivors. They walked over to the other two boys, each of them giving the summoner a questioning look. He just shook his head at their gazes.
“So what now?” the raven-haired boy asked in a low tone.
Quatre thought for a moment, “There’s only one person I can think of that knows about any kind relic. And that’s Princess Kirin.”
“Fine.” The dark brown haired boy spoke up, “Let’s go to Vishira.”
* * *
After traveling west for quite sometime with nothing, but the trees, grass and sky around them, they finally managed to reach the kingdom of Vishira.
Stopping in the entrance, Quatre pointed to the glistening palace in the back of the other residences, “We should head to the castle as soon as possible. There’s no telling what kind of security precautions that they have taken since the attack.”
“You’re the prince of Momoiro, why should they question you?” Heero asked.
“Good question. It comes down to trust no one that is not from your kingdom. True, Trowa and I have nothing to fear seeing we have an alliance with them, you shouldn’t have such a problem seeing that you are engaged to Miss Relena. My concern is WuFei...”
“Don’t bother worrying about me. I’m not going into the castle.”
“I didn’t say you couldn’t.”
He sighed, “No, but I’m saying that I am staying out here. I never wanted to set foot in this kingdom. For some reasons I can’t explain, but the main one IS the security. Most likely they will fear summoners.”
“That was my worry.” He stopped chatting for a second or two, then faced the raven-haired boy, “Very well. If you choose to stay out here, find us a room at the inn, then feel free to roam about the kingdom. But first I’m going to need the necklace.” He held out his hand.
“Whatever.” WuFei gently removed the pendant then walked away leaving the others to their mission.
Wondering and passing many people, WuFei found something interesting in the far back of the residence. Slowly he approached and his eyes widened when he saw a large, somewhat mangled airship. “Peacemillion…?”
“Whose there?!”
The summoner turned his head upwards and saw a girl with short, dark purple hair, that covered her face ever so slightly and bright blue eyes jumping down from the base of the ship. He moved back so she could land without hitting him.
She gained her balance and advanced towards the onyx-eyed summoner. “Why are you here?”
“I could ask you the same thing. What are you doing with Peacemillion?”
“Hn. I owe you no such an explanation.” She glanced down towards the boy’s hand noticing the relic on his ring finger. “You should know summoners are not welcome…” She bent down and removed the dagger that she had strapped to her ankle, “You must be annihilated.” She ran forward.
Seeing that she was about to strike WuFei moved his right hand and grabbed onto the oncoming blade, causing a stream of crimson to make its way down his arm. The girl scowled, “Take off that ring or die!”
“You don’t get it! I can’t.”
The girl kicked him in the torso, which caused him to remove his grip on the small dagger. “With all this ruckus going on, I’m sure my master has already called the palace’s guards. Whether it be by my hands or theirs you will die.”
At that same time…
Quatre and the others entered the throne room and bowed before the two girls in front them. The one on the left stood from her seat. Her light cerulean hair was pulled back into a loose ponytail and her eyes were that of a shining emerald. She slowly lifted the sides of her white gown so that she could move and step down on the next step.
“Quatre, Trowa what brings you here unannounced?”
“Well” the blond stood up straight and the others followed his lead, “we need your help in finding out what a certain relic does.”
“A relic? I’m all ears Quatre.”
“It’s this.” He held out the necklace.
“A Phoenix Ruby?!”
The paladin spoke up, “You know what this is?”
She walked down the rest of the steps and took a close look at it, “I’ve heard stories about these things, but never actually seen one.” Taking her eyes off of the ruby, she looked into the aqua eyes of its holder, “Would the three of you be able to stay until the morning?”
Quatre nodded, “But there is someone else with us. I figured that if you knew what this was you wouldn’t be able to tell us until sometime tomorrow. So I had him get us a room at the inn.”
“Great. I’ll-“
“Princess Kirin!”
Princess Kirin turned her attention passed the three boys and saw one of her servants. “What is it?”
“I am here to notify you that the guards have been sent out to apprehend a threat. From what some of the villagers told us it’s a summoner.”
“You may leave now.”
The servant gave a small bow and left. The girl still on her throne stood suddenly. Her face a little pale, “A summoner? Oh, god…” she took off running, hoping she could catch the soldiers.
“Quatre, was the fourth person a summoner?”
Three nods were given.
“This person wouldn’t happen to be male, would it?”
Another three nods.
“I’m almost afraid to ask. Is his name WuFei?”
Yet another three nods.
Kirin shook her head and turned to look out the window, “Melody…”
~~~
The girl leaned against the ship, “You’re wasting valuable running time.”
“I don’t run, not any more.”
“Hold it right there, summoner!”
WuFei turned his attention to the ten guards surrounding him. “Do it if you’re going to…” he whispered to himself.
“All summoners must be executed on site. Any last words?”
“Kill me. You’d be doing me a favor.”
“STOP!”
All eyes diverted to a girl with long black hair with purple streaks and onyx eyes. She nearly tripped over her dress a couple times before she managed get near them. She glared at the guards, “You are dismissed and as for you, Hilde,” she turned to the girl next to the ship, “Go help Dr. Howard with the rest of the repairs.”
“As you wish, your highness…”
After the small ground dissembled WuFei and the princess entered the main section of the kingdom and sat on the edge of a small fountain. She held the summoner’s right hand in hers while she healed it with the other. “Don’t worry about Hilde, she’s just Howard’s apprentice…”
After she had let go, he flexed his fingers and then stood. “I appreciate the help, but don’t touch me.”
“WuFei, I really can’t imagine what has been going though your mind since Merin’s death, but believe me when I tell you that no one will die if they touch you.”
“You’re right about not knowing what has been going through my head. But being female you don’t understand this curse.”
“All I know is that Dad went through a drastic change, but before that he-“
“If you say he was a good man I’ll smack you across the face.” He glared back at her, “If wasn’t for the way he was you wouldn’t exist.” He sighed, “It’s nothing against you Melody, that bastard just made me what I am. Something I didn’t want to become and now I’m advancing ever closer to becoming him.”
“WuFei...”
“I’m a summoner, I’ve killed my wife like he had my mother the only thing different is that I’m not a womanizer and I haven’t transformed. But I can’t hold ‘him’ in forever…”
Melody stood from the fountain and placed her arms around the summoner, “You’re my brother, WuFei, don’t push me away when you need help.”
“You’re just my half sister, Melody. I don’t want you to get involved. I don’t want anyone to get hurt or killed because of me again.” He removed her arms, “I have to go.” With that he walked off.
“Then I’ll just see you tonight…” she whispered.
Later that night…
The five travelers met at the inn. They sat around a small round table in the lobby as they discussed the relic and the little mishap that involved WuFei, who was now trying to keep his right hand hidden from the public.
“I guess I had a right to want to second guess myself on your safety after the decision was made.” The blond sighed.
“It was nothing. Some know-it-all tomboy attacked me, but the funnier thing about it was that she is Howard’s apprentice.”
“Howard as in Dr. Howard?” Trowa asked.
“Yes and it seems that he almost has Peacemillion back in one piece.”
Quatre gave the raven-haired summoner an odd look, “Aren’t apprentices only for mages?”
“No. Apprentice is just a fancy way of saying student.” He then turned to look at the paladin. “Did Kirin know what the necklace was?”
“Yes and no. She knew what it’s called by name. Apparently she had heard stories involving it, but now she’s looking up the facts.” Now that that was out of the way, he decided to ask the question that was most likely on Quatre and Trowa’s minds as well as his own. “How do you know Melody?”
“Is that information necessary?”
“It would put or minds at ease. I mean it looked sort of odd that she is engaged to Kirin, yet when the servant said that the guards had been sent out to apprehend a summoner she took off running. Is there something that we should know?”
“She’s my half-sister…” he muttered.
“Half-sister? You mean you still have family?” the white mage questioned.
“Not really. She is just the result of some woman my father screwed. And for all I know I could have more than one sibling. But Melody is the only one that I am aware of.”
“You don’t have to be so cold about it…” the prince spoke in a small voice. “She is your sister even if it is only on your father’s side.”
“Excuse me, Majesty. But I do have a right to feel betrayed and angry. I didn’t want to be a summoner, he made me and while I fought it he was out screwing anything with breasts. Melody’s mother happened to be one of them, except she was conceived a few months before I was born. Melody is the reason I didn’t want to come here because she tries to make me see our father in a good way, but that’s never going to happen. I’m sorry, but I have the right to be angry.” He stood from his seat and placed his hands in his pockets, “I’m going to bed.” He walked off.
* * *
The summoner was unable to sleep and so he decided to take a walk around the kingdom, being night time he felt that he had the advantage of keeping the fact that he was indeed a summoner to himself. As he stepped out he spotted a girl peeking into each of the rooms.
She got closer and closer when she just bumped right into him. He looked her over and let out a frustrated sigh. “Were you looking for me, Melody?”
“Yes. We need to talk.” She whispered.
“I don’t really feel like talking if all you’re going to do is defend that son of a bitch.”
“Fine, but you’re coming with me.” The girl grabbed onto his arm and pulled him away.
Once outside he removed his arm from his sister’s hand. “What do want?!”
“For you to get rid of your burden… Now follow me.” she took off and the raven-haired boy followed reluctantly. Taking a secret passage that was hidden in a rock behind the palace, they walked down the path where it was nothing but dirt and rock being lit by torches on the walls.
As they neared closer to their destination another person came into view. Melody smiled at her, “Thanks for meeting us down here, Kirin.”
“It’s no problem. After all this is what makes the summoner.”
“What are you talking about?!” WuFei shouted. This was something that he never would have thought his sister’s fiancé would know.
“In this chamber is what will remove the heavy burden you carry and make you a full-fledged summoner.” she removed a piece of the wall to reveal a secret room with just a simple motion of her left hand.
The onyx-eyed boy glared at his sister, “If you knew anything Melody, it would be that I don’t want to be a full summoner!”
“I do know that, but you can’t run from this forever…” with that said she pushed him into the small chamber and had Kirin close him in.
WuFei watched the rock retake its place, then punched his fist right into it. “I wasn’t running! I was just defending…”
“You were running and you know it.” came a female voice.
“Who’s there?” he took his fist out of the stone and took notice of his surroundings. The room was similar to the entire cavern except this room had a small alter in the back that was lit by six candles which brought his attention to a glowing symbol on the wall. It looked like a seven-pointed gem that seemed to represent a star.
“Don’t be afraid WuFei. It’s just me.”
His eyes then landed on a figure that he thought was just another stupid illusion that was until it put its hand on his face. “Merin?”
“Yes.”
“How can this be? You’re dead.”
“I am just a spirit now. This is just my soul. You know you don’t have to be afraid of what you are.”
“I’m not afraid of that. I’m afraid of what I will become. That transformation is what killed you. I killed you…”
“I knew about that small detail. I was prepared to die if it meant keeping you the way you are.”
“You were NOT ready to die. You did the stupid thing by trying to calm me down and you paid the ultimate price by doing so. Your dream was to be the best summoner and fight for some kind of justice, but I stripped you of that dream as well as your life…”
“Perhaps. But you are living my dream and for that I thank you.”
“Why did you protect me?”
“Because I love you… I know we never got along, but that’s thing I liked about the relationship. You always kept me on my toes. So now that you are living my dream, let me become your hope and strength…” she moved towards the summoner’s lips and placed a gentle kiss on them. Moving away from the kiss she then placed her lips on the summoner relic.
WuFei watched the spirit of his wife vanish then took a look at his ring, noticing that it was now flashing different colors rather than just staying the color of the last summon he had used. With one last look at the image on the back of the wall he advanced towards the entrance that he now could use.
Melody noticed the difference in the ring and in her brother as well and placed her arms around him. “I knew you would become a full summoner.”
“No, not me. Just Merin…”
* * *
The next morning the other three boys assembled in the throne room of the palace and to their surprise WuFei was already standing there with the Phoenix Ruby around his neck.
“Thank you all for coming so quickly.” the blue-haired girl announced and seemed quite eager to tell what she had found. “In all the stories I had read that involved such a relic as a Phoenix Ruby I never would have thought it to do the exact same thing it does in those tales. The ruby has the power to restore life, but it will only work if you go to Destiny’s Point, which is located to the south of here in Droconia. Once there WuFei and Quatre must combine their abilities and summon the Phoenix. Now I spoke with Howard and the repairs on Peacemillion have been finished. He’s waiting for you, go now and may your goal be achieved.”
The four of them bowed to the two princesses and made their way out of the castle. With each of them full of determination they boarded the airship and took off to the forgotten village of Droconia…
After what felt like an eternity to the four warriors they finally made it to the island village known as Droconia. Howard had landed just outside the village so that he would remain safe and the party had easy access to him.
The four of them entered the deserted village. Heero took the front, WuFei was right behind him and shuttered as he looked around, Trowa was picking up the rear with the prince clinging onto his arm. The paladin stopped in the center and then took his turn to look at the ruins.
“Who or what could have done this?” he voiced his question.
“Probably someone who enjoys playing with fire.” Came the response from the lancer.
Quatre let go of his love and approached one of the torched buildings. He knelt down in the wreckage, moving some of the debris he spotted a filthy looking doll. Slowly he picked it up and just stared at in sorrow. After the blond finished staring he decided to take a look through the rest of the ruined things. Suddenly his aqua eyes widened as he then turned to his teammates. “Guys, come over here!”
The three of them made their way over to the shouting mage. The green-eyed dragoon placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder as a signal that they were all there. Quatre nodded and then removed the last pieces of burnt wood off of the object. Silently the four of them looked at the painting of a woman, who seemed to be just about 18, her black hair fell over her shoulders and her violet eyes seemed to have so much life in them.
“It can’t be…” WuFei took a step back, which caught the attention of the others.
“WuFei?” Quatre asked. “Did you know this person?”
“She was my mother…”
The blond let go of the painting and the doll. He stood with the help of his koi then he, Trowa and Heero advanced toward the summoner. Each of them gave the raven-haired boy a concerned look.
“I’m fine.” He assured them.
The Prussian eyed boy nodded, then faced in the direction he had when they had first entered. “We have no time to waste.” He pointed to the back of the village, “I’m assuming the mountain path over there is Destiny’s Point. So let us be on our way…”
Not questioning the leader’s command, the others followed. The climb was rather quiet, which scared them all. They walked the paths and advanced through the caverns. When they entered the last cave, about half way through the white mage spotted something out of the corner of his eye.
“I wonder what that is.” He broke away from his friends and approached it. Kneeling before it, he gently lifted the top up and peered inside. “Guys, look what I found.”
Again the party went over to the overly curious prince. He stood and held a scroll in front of him. Slowly opening it, it revealed itself to look like some kind of blueprint for a weapon. “Maybe Howard could do something with it.”
“Yeah, maybe.” Heero remarked as he then continued on his way.
As the neared the end of the cave something else came into view. Advancing slowly and quietly they waited to see what was at the peak. Seeing that it still had its back to them they moved in into the light.
That’s when it noticed. It turned around to face the four boys. WuFei’s eyes widened as he gasped, “Mother…”
“WuFei, is that you?” she stepped over to her son. Her eyes seemed to have become very sorrowful just then. “You shouldn’t be here…”
“Me? Aren’t you supposed to be dead?”
“You haven’t changed.” He could sense that she meant it in two ways. “Yes, your father did kill me, but I have a loyalty to my village.”
“Loyalty?”
“Part of that loyalty lied in marrying a summoner of the Chang family.” She looked at her son’s neck and frowned when she noticed the Phoenix Ruby. “Don’t tell me you’re the summoner that will try to summon Ruby…”
“Mother?”
She gently placed her arms around the onyx-eyed boy, pulling him into an embrace. “It wasn’t supposed to be this way…” I tear fell down her right cheek and landed on WuFei’s shoulder, “I don’t want to do this, but I must. Even if it is you, I cannot allow you to summon the Phoenix until you prove your worth…” she pulled away and moved her hair back behind her ear. Revealing an odd earring she moved her hand towards it and letting a few more tears fall she took it off.
She gasped in pain as wings sprouted from her back and what seemed to be some kind of blade forced themselves out of her elbows. Her fingernails grew a little to give off the impression that she had talons, she stood on her feet as if she were a cat and a long tail appeared. She glared at them, “Show me what you’ve got!”
The four of them spread out enough to give everyone space to move. Heero held his crossbow firm in his hands and fired. Saiya moved swiftly to the right, dodging the arrow easily and moving right towards the dark haired boy.
As quickly as he could, WuFei moved in front of the paladin and took the full force of his mother’s hit. Quatre twirled his staff around, creating a small gust of wind around each of his friends as he shouted, “Wind Shield!”
Saiya glanced at the lancer and moved towards him with the quickest motion she brought down her talon. And like before the summoner moved over and took the hit again. WuFei bled as he just stood there taking in deep breaths.
Trowa steadied his lance and ran forward and made full contact, but she only smirked as she blocked the spear with her hands. Heero moved over to the summoner and started to heal his wounds, Quatre did the same.
Her eyes glowed a mysterious magenta as she swooped down and grabbed her son by the neck. Taking him up into the air she licked some of the blood off of his face and threw him back to the ground. He stayed down for a moment and then struggled to get to and stay on his feet.
Trowa again ready and willing ran forward again, but this time missed due to her still being too high up. Heero once again took his action and started to heal WuFei. Quatre as much as he wanted to help, he placed his hands tightly around the staff and shut his eyes. His aqua orbs opened slowly as he raised his staff to the sky, “Pearl Judgement!”
A large pearl sped towards the monster that was once human. She just smirked as it was reflected and did what it was supposed to do on the caster. Quatre struggled to release himself from the pearl’s bond but came to no avail.
She just smiled to her self as she gazed over to the white knight who was healing her son’s wounds. She lit a small ball of energy and calmly threw it down in front of the boy’s face. He quickly removed himself from the summoner’s side, but only to have the orb follow and with one simple snap of her fingers the orb flashed right in Heero’s eyes. Leaving him blind.
WuFei was on one knee as he just sat back and watched the chaos. The lancer climbed up onto a small ledge that was right above Saiya. Taking a deep breath he jumped down, but sensing the movement, the once human moved and slammed her fists right into Trowa’s back causing him to fall at quicker pace.
She then set her eyes on her son. She landed in front of him and slashed him right across the face. Trowa brought him self up and steadied himself with his spear. He looked at WuFei, “Summon… before we have no chance of survival…”
Saiya lifted herself into the air once more and looked down upon the fighters. The raven-haired boy got to his feet, he held his hand in front of his face so that the ring was facing his mother. When he felt the energy he moved his arm out, “Nataku!”
A white streaming light illuminated from the ring as a screeching, roar was heard. A large white dragon landed in front its summoner. WuFei fell back to his knee, “Please, lend me your strength one last time…”
Nataku glided forward and struck the other creature hard. Getting another wicked gleam in her eyes, Saiya swiftly moved and slashed the dragon about 15 times. WuFei felt every last bit of pain that his wife’s spirit did. Managing to regain some balance he stood and focused his energy into his ring.
Taking notice of her son’s action she quickly flew down to strike him but ended up hitting the fierce white dragon that stood before her.
“Nataku…” The summoner mummer, “this is the last. Do what you will with the power that I have… Final Devastation!”
Nataku flew high above the dragon like person, sending down a powerful white, blue, red, yellow and green blast that hit her head on. As she started to fade away she locked her eyes with her son’s one last time and whispered, “Thank you…”
The white dragon returned to the summoner relic, Heero adjusted his vision and could see again and Quatre was free from his bonds. Both the white knight and the mage healed all of the wounds and rested for a moment.
“This is it.” The paladin spoke with gratitude in his voice, “This is where it all ends…”
WuFei and Quatre nodded and took their places near the edge of the peak.
The blond started to speak, “Life and death granted to us by the power of heaven…”
“We call on you now to restore what was lost by the power of flame…”
They spoke in unison, “We summon the legendary being of fire. Come now and answer our plea!”
In the distance a shining red light appeared and before they knew it they were face to face with an applauding Phoenix. “Well done. I personally didn’t think you’d make this far. Now that you have proven me wrong I will grant your wish.” She spread her arms out and created some kind of mist. “Come with to the Cave of Oblivion…”
The mist engulfed the four party members and the next thing they knew they were back where they had found the black mage. Ruby smiled at them and moved to her side to reveal the bodies of Mura and Duo. “Now choose.”
“Choose?” The prince questioned.
“Yes. You only have one ruby so I can only resurrect one. Place the pendant around the neck of the one you would like restored. Fear not Duo has no will to destroy any more. If he is the one to be restored he will know deep down that he has been defeated…”
“But how can we choose?”
“Not us, Quatre.” Trowa said as he gazed into his koi’s deep aqua eyes, “Them.”
WuFei and Heero glanced at one another then the summoner took off the ruby and held it out to the paladin. “Resurrect Duo.”
“What about Mura?”
“It’s okay.”
“But you’ll be alone.”
“I’ve been alone for a long time now. I’m used to it and believe me, if you marry Relena you will feel like you ARE alone. Bring back the one you had searched and waited for…”
“Thank you.” The white knight said as he took the pendant and placed it around the black mage’s neck.
“So be it…” Ruby moved closer to the fallen mage and lit a small flame in her hand. Carefully she placed it on the boy’s chest and watched it lower itself into his body.
The four boys were blinded by a bright light and then somehow they were back on the peak.
“Heero…”
The paladin looked down in his arms and saw big violet eyes looking at him. “Duo…” he pulled him closer. Suddenly he pulled away and stared at the necklace, “You were the lucky one.”
The longhaired mage looked down and spotted the pendant, “Mura’s necklace… that means…” he wiped the tears from his eyes and glanced over to the summoner, “I’m so sorry…”
WuFei turned his back to him and the others, “Don’t worry about it.” he started to walk off and gave a small wave, “Just be happy with each other…”
~*~*~*
Heero stood in the throne room in the Cinq Kingdom palace with Duo at his side. The blond princess walked in and placed her fiancé in a warm embrace.
“I’m so relieved that you’re safe…”
He removed her grip, “I’m leaving.”
“What?!”
“This” he pointed to the mage next to him, “is Duo.”
“The Duo?”
“Yes. I’m sorry, but you know that if I had found someone before my 16th birthday I wouldn’t have to marry you.”
“I know and I’m sad to see you go, but as long as you can be happy. Where are you two going?”
“To Momoiro. Quatre has offered us jobs as his bodyguards.” He looked at the violet-eyed boy, “Howard’s waiting, we should go.”
“Right.” He responded as he followed the knight. Then he felt a hand on his shoulder.
“You better take care of him.”
“Don’t worry, I will.”
~~~
Trowa stood next to his koi as he and all of the citizens of the desert kingdom watched the prince and the head of Parnois shake hands.
When the hands broke from one another, the white mage turned and faced his people. “People of Momoiro, we have lived in fear long enough. Don’t be afraid of who you and what you will be. What you just witnessed was the alliance between us and Parnois. We will help each other and create a world where we can all live in peace. The war maybe calm now, but it is far from over. Let us give something for Romefeller to worry about. Show them that you are not afraid to live!”
The crowd cheered and applauded. Quatre turned to his bodyguard and looked right into his emerald eyes. Trowa just nodded.

WuFei stood on the shore of the beach where he had found the Romefeller general. He watched the sunset as a small breeze started to pass him. “I’ll find a way. This is far from being over, Romefeller…” he shuttered suddenly.
He felt something around him. Something cold yet comforting. He shuttered again thinking that it was his fate telling him it was time…
Somewhere deep in the heart lies another One who will make you strong The power within one’s mind Also comes from those who care for you Never think you are alone I am still here If and when you need me You can reach out and touch my heart… Nothing is as it seems I should know, look at me But then when things become grim You know that you can always call on someone to set you free Come to think You will always carry on Never think you are alone I am still here If and when you need me You can reach out and touch my heart… *******Instrumental part******* Never think you are alone I am still here If and when you need me You can reach out and touch my heart Now the coldness around you is nothing to fear I am just showing you by this embrace That if you should go, I’ll be there too Just as long as you will share the truth that I love you… And as the stars dance in the sky You will see that all you have to do Is spread your broken wings And find the power within our love I will guide you to the end of the earth This is the path that you’ve chosen There’s no turning back Fly off on your destined wings Soar through the sky There’s nothing you can hide From those wings of fate Spread those wings And don’t run from your destiny ~~~
Inside the Cave of Oblivion four people surrounded the body of the fallen soldier.
“Master Treize, are you sure?”
“Yes, Lady. She is our only hope.”
“But Excellency, how can you be sure?”
“Zechs is right. It was Chi’s fault she ended up this way. What makes you think it will be different this time?”
“Because” he lifted the purple haired girl into his arms, “her fate has one more path. And those in heaven are going to make sure she sees this through…” with that he headed for entrance with his comrades right behind him.
