THE FINAL TESTIMONY

Being a member of the Baptist Church in Georgia for many
years now I have heard a variety of testifying
sessions from many people ranging from old to young,
and their testimonies ranging from those to
which I could relate, to those which
I could not comprehend.
These “exposing-of-the-soul” sessions usually begin
with the old standard Baptist Church testimony
prelude that goes something like,
“I just want to say… I love the Lord…, etc.”

(We’ve all heard them.)

Then, this standard testimony introduction is usually
followed by a sweet, heartfelt testimony coming right
from that person’s soul.

There will come a day, though, when our testimony will
not be spoken in words. Rather, it
will be spoken silently as the sum total of
our actions demonstrated throughout the
course of our individual lives. This final testimony
will be directed to our survivors as they view our body
lying in our casket at the funeral home.

What will be your last unspoken testimony?

We are writing the script to that final testimony
as we live now. The way we live our life from
day to day in terms of showing our love toward
others and demonstrating what is most
important to us will compile the pages of that script.
Our actions and reactions to life’s challenges
and blessings will form the words
on the pages of that script.

As I have faced some unusually difficult
challenges, tests and trials in my life
thus far, I have come to know the Lord in a most
intimate and real way. Without Him holding my
hand, I would never make it through life.
My foundation would crack and crumble.
I would not be able to stand.

Therefore, I would like for people to know me now,
as I am living, as a person who is obedient to
the Lord and walking solely in His strength and
with His understanding. I want people to see that I like
to smile and share my heart. I want
people to realize that I enjoy showing love. However,
I believe my final unspoken testimony will be much shorter
than that, yet will say all of those things.

I desire that my final testimony be
communicated in a way such as this:

She knew Him.
