Nine

My little boy
Turned nine today.
Such a big boy,
In every way.

Gone are the bunny ears
for tying his shoes.
He ties like Mom
And shares the news.

His best friend
is a green tree frog.
Spends hours watching it
Jumping on logs.

He doesn't have
To worry about time.
He doesn't keep
A schedule in line.

If I could,
I'd turn back time,
I'd give it a try,
To be nine.
