Perhaps one of the biggest reasons Kuririn isn’t so popular among fans is because he is consistently looked upon as a coward. He doesn’t seem to like to fight, and is easily intimidated by those stronger than him – which is everyone… What could be more cowardly, right?
I think this is very unfair. I can name three reasons off the top of my head that clears him of that despicable title.
1). Despite not wanting to go and fight, Kuririn always shows up for battle – even ones that he knows he will lose. No one can blame someone for being afraid of an adversary, but for him to join in consistently is very admirable. (After all, even Gokuu is afraid of some things…coughneedlescough…) Even after he was killed by Freezer, doesn’t he still go again to fight him when he comes to earth? Yamucha hadn’t even seen him before, and he was no the verge of a breakdown.
2). Secondly, how many times has the poor fellow died, or nearly died to save the earth? How about how many times that he steps in and saves another? Gohon would have been long sense dead had it not been for the many times Kuririn stepped in to save him at the cost of himself.
3). He never runs away. Not once. The almighty, most powerful Gohon runs away. Arrogant, wonderful Vejiita runs away too, and before he had even been hit by one punch. Does Kuririn? No. Even after being tortured, and that is definitely not cowardly.
Three Specific Indicators that Prove him NOT a Coward:
Fighting Nemek against second form Freezer, Kuririn grabs little Dende within a hurricane of energy. When the tyrant launches himself toward the pair, Kuririn proceeds to throw Dende aside and receives the punishment himself.
