There are few characters in the dragonball series that have absolutely no past reference. Even the cryptic Vejiita is shown to have a childhood. Not surprisingly, it is the humans who are neglected. Not one of the Zed fighters native to Earth has a clearly documented past life. No parents. No home. Nothing… Kuririn is one of these characters to which there seems to be no strings attached to. Did he ever have a family? Why is he so small? What makes him always act so submissive and have such low self-esteem? Unfortunately, of time when many of these questions could be answered, the few clues are short and bare of significant information. Or do they offer more than what it obvious? What we know This information, though seemingly unimportant, has given enough implications for dedicated fans from all over the Internet to form several possibilities that fill in at least some of the gaps in his young life. Some of the theories that I have compiled are listed below. Theory #1 Kuririn was born into monk hood, and being so small in stature, he is just naturally bullied. (Notes from the webmistress: This is the most basic and generally accepted of the theories, and to put it plainly, shows very little insight. It leaves far to many unanswered questions. Such as, why so he so small? And why is it that there is never any reference to his family?) Theory #2 Kuririn was orphaned and taken into the Orinji temple. He trained there, and then left in search of becoming stronger than his fellow training mates that treated him so badly. (Notes from the Webmisstress: Expounding slightly on theory one, this possibility seeks to answer the question of family. It is, they say, that he simply has none. And it also gives a shallow response to the reason he is so starved for a family when he searches for one of his own in later life. This is one of the more believable theories, though it leaves too many blanks to be widely accepted.) Theory #3 Kuririn was abandoned by his family for physical reasons and was taken in by the monks at the Orinji Temple. (Notes from the Webmisstress: This begins the deeper, darker views of Kuririn’s childhood – and it also points to family/domestic trauma. His father is traditionally placed in this position.) The last two possibilities are similar, laying the mistreatment of the small child on one of two persons… Theory # 4 Kuririn was abandoned and abused by his first harsh master. Theory # 5 Kuririn was abused by his father, and escaped from him to the Orinji temple as a very young child. (Notes from the Webmisstress: These are perhaps the most practical of all the theories, as it offers the least conflicting information and accounts for many of the traits in Kuririn’s future personality.) These are a collection of the most basic theories. It should be said that most individuals have a little more to their ideas; compounding, melding together, and twisting details around, trying to prove they are right… Do you have a different opinion?
