I haven't seen much Dragon Ball, but from what I have seen it seems to me that Kuririn has inferiority problems. I notice that he latches onto Gokuu's dull behavior and uses it as a chance to prove that he's smarter than Gokuu. He's looking for a reason to be a role model for Gokuu. Maybe because he had no role model for himself as a young child. This indicates that he may have been either abused/abandoned by his father. I think its more likely to be his father than his teacher though, because I think he would have had a tendency to look up to any teacher. Not only because of his cultural background, but also because of his other behavior. He worhips the ground Mutenroshi walks on! Well, not really, but he does show a certain amount of respect for the Turtle Hermit. I can't see Kuririn running away from the Orinji Temple because of something traumatic happening to him. Kuririn's character is such that he's more like to internalize, rather than externalize. Let me elaborate... Kuririn would be more likely to become withdrawn and listless after something traumatic happened to him, not more extroverted and assertive. If he ran away because of some horribly tramutizing event he wouldn't be the Kuririn he is today. He was pretty sarcastic and obnoxious in Dragon Ball (at least at the beginning) and I think this indicates that he left of his own volition. Maybe he was even kicked out. I don't know hw informed that sounds, because I haven't read all the manga and seen all of Dragon Ball, but it seems likely to me. So that's my theory. Kuririn has an inferiority complex because he was abused by his father, however I don't think he ran away from the Temple as much as I think that he might have run away. Forgive my uninformedness. *bows* |
