Why So Short? |
One of the most notable features about Kuririn is his size. Even since he was first introduced he has been tiny – and even when an equally tiny Gokuu sprouts up, he hardly grows at all. At his tallest height, he just barely meets Piccolo’s waist. But why? How could someone be that short? What’s wrong with him that he ended up like that? To answer most realistically, it probably had a great deal to do with his parents. Physical defects, such as stunted growth and missing anatomy (nose) are known as birth defects. Small size at birth and an impaired rate of growth are most commonly linked to one of two things – heredity or drugs and alcohol. After searching endlessly through the medical books, I happened to run across something that may fit our small friend nicely. __________________________________________________________________ Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: “Large amounts of alcohol may cause a miscarriage or fetal alcohol syndrome. Newborns who have fetal alcohol syndrome are small for gestational age, and…a flattened midportion of the face…are among the many malformations that may occur.” (The Merck Manual of Medical Information) __________________________________________________________________ Defiantly some similarities, ne? So, Kuririn was probably subjected to drugs and alcohol in his blood from parents immediately before and during pregnancy, and it caused him to have serious physical deformities and severely impaired growth and development. It makes you wonder, if one or both of his parents were willing to drink and smoke during such a vulnerable time in their child’s life, do you really think that they stopped such dangerous habits after he was born?
